{Psalm 48}.
The first passage we memorized our first week in Israel...taking the bus back to the Moshav after our first Land and Bible field trips.
A Psalm that now has very special significance to me.
Verse 12 says to "Walk about Zion"...
I did.
And I can attest that all of the words of this Psalm are true! The Lord is greatly to be praised. Jerusalem is beautiful in elevation- and is the city of the great King. God has made Himself known as a fortress. I have thought on His steadfast love (and it is steadfast!!) in the midst of His temple. His name does reach to the ends of the earth...it reached me in California. His right hand is filled with righteousness.
Now, more than ever, may I be faithful to tell the next generation that "this is God, our God, forever and ever."
As I transition back into the States, after three amazing months in the nation of Israel, and as I prepare to graduate in four months and embark into, what seems to me now, a vast, unknown future...how thankful I can confidently declare, "HE WILL GUIDE US FOREVER."
Nothing but praise,
Mollie
"Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised
in the city of our God!
His holy mountain, beautiful in elevation,
is the joy of all the earth,
Mount Zion, in the far north,
the city of the great King.
Within her citadels God
has made himself known as a fortress.
For behold, the kings assembled;
they came on together.
As soon as they saw it, they were astounded;
they were in panic; they took to flight.
Trembling took hold of them there,
anguish as of a woman in labor.
By the east wind you shattered
the ships of Tarshish.
As we have heard, so have we seen
in the city of the Lord of hosts,
in the city of our God,
which God will establish forever.
Selah
We have thought on your steadfast love, O God,
in the midst of your temple.
As your name, O God,
so your praise reaches to the ends of the earth.
Your right hand is filled with righteousness.
Let Mount Zion be glad!
Let the daughters of Judah rejoice
because of your judgments!
Walk about Zion, go around her,
number her towers,
consider well her ramparts,
go through her citadels,
that you may tell the next generation
that this is God,
our God forever and ever.
He will guide us forever."
~Psalm 48~
"There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace. What do workers gain from their toil? I have seen the burden God has laid on the human race. {He has made everything beautiful in its time.} He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live. That each of them may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all their toil—this is the gift of God. I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it."
